Sutton Hoo (N.T.), Woodbridge with its pretty harbour and interesting shops (8 miles), bird watching at RSPB Minsmere, fish and chips at the beach cafe in Dunwich, and Southwold, the gem of the Suffolk Heritage Coast, are all within an easy drive, as are cinema, theatre and extensive shopping in Ipswich. Pub serving food and shop 1 mile.

This beautiful county is situated to the south of Norfolk, with Cambridgeshire to the west, Essex to the south, and the North Sea to the east. It has much to offer the visitor, including the wetlands of the Broads, the Wool Towns, and a coastal strip to the east known as “The Sandlings”. There are over 5000km of marked paths as well as national cycle routes, along with country parks, nature reserves such as the Trimley Marshes, and picnic sites.
Suffolk’s notable towns include Ipswich (the county town), Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.
West Suffolk is famed for its archaeological discoveries, especially that at Sutton Hoo in 1939. A grassy mound was found to be a ship burial ground containing a collection of Anglo-Saxon treasures, including a Sword of State, a shield, a helmet, gold and silver bowls, jewellery and a lyre. The site is now owned by the National Trust.
